How it all started
When COVID hit in 2019, I had the urge to braid my hair more and that allowed my ancestors to find me. In 2023, during my spiritual journey I lost my God mother. I knew something was going on; I felt empty and off that day at work. All technology was acting up and my phone randomly turned off with music still playing. It wasn’t until dinner time, that my grandmother called to tell me the news about my God Mother. I didn’t go to her funeral but had my own beautiful ceremony for her! I was already at peace with her passing and didn’t cry much during the week. After the ceremony, I went outside for some fresh air and the first thing I saw was a cardinal perched on the fence looking at me. I felt her presence and broke down crying because cardinals are a sign from a passed love one! A few weeks later, we noticed one of the cardinals had one leg and it just so happened my God mother had one leg towards the end of her life. Shortly after her passing, I felt the need to take a course to become a death doula and started doing research to learn more about what it was. Before stepping in the role as a death doula, I knew I had to be a caregiver. Now, 2025 Butterfly Yew has been born!
